Branding and Advertising

I struggled a lot with my personal branding because who I am as a designer is constantly evolving.  After much aggravation, I tried thinking about how I got to where I am today.  Although it has taken a lot of hard work on my part, I would not be here today if it were not for the constant support from my family, friends, and professors.  Their belief in me made it possible for me to believe in myself.  This understanding is where the inspiration for my branding came from along with the phrase “Do the things that make you believe you can fly”.  From there my imagination took flight and I began sketching and creating comps.  The process was not a quick or easy one from beginning to end but it has resulted in a logo that I believe perfectly represents me.  The hot air balloon being pulling into the air by the flowers symbolizes letting your dreams lead you wherever you might go.  I used these earthy pastel colors to maintain a whimsical and airy tone.  To create unity between the typefaces, I created an ampersand from the primary typeface.

To Write Love On Her Arms Ad Campaign

To Write Love on Her Arms is a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.  This is an organization that I have kept up with because I think what they stand for is very important.  I decided to create a 3 ad campaign for them to encourage telling your story, in whatever way you can.  I chose to use grayscale photography to allow the text to be amplified and create good hierarchy.  The blue I chose was to create contrast and because it is calm and serene and inspires security and the feeling of trust.

Salt & light rebranding and menu design

I grew up in a very small and historic town in Massachusetts.  When a cute modern cafe opened in the center of town it quickly became a hot spot for teens and young adults.  When I was challenged to create a cost-effective menu using only color and typography I knew exactly the place I wanted to use.  I chose this vibrant orange to brighten up the design and draw in someone's eye.  The typography that I chose was to convey the very modern style of the cafe as well as its elegant touches.

Twininigs Tea ad Campaign
Full Page Magazine Ad

I was challenged to work with a group to create a 3 ad campaign for a company.  I was chosen as a team leader based on a competition we did to create an ad in 1 hour.  I then got to choose my team members and we were given a list of companies to choose from. We were instructed to create a billboard size ad and two others with our choice of specs. We chose Twinings because we thought it would be a fun challenge to create a more modern aesthetic to their very traditional roots.  We started with research about the company and then began our creative brief.  The product line we chose to highlight was the wellness teas which provided different health benefits.  Each teacup that we used was chosen to help represent the "type" of tea.  The typography used was also to help convey the message of each tea.  My team members and I all played a part in this process from start to finish.  For these finals, I took care of the image editing, typography, and layout.

Chapin Christian Gymnastics rebranding

I was challenged to create an illustrative logo design for a business of choice.  Gymnastics is a huge part of my life so I chose to do a gym that was in need of some TLC.  I wanted to keep some connection from the original logo.  I illustrated the gymnast and kept a similar color scheme from the original design but softened the colors for a more gentle appeal.

My niece Karlee was diagnosed with leukemia when she was just 18 months old.  Through her 2 1/2 years of treatment, she built a team around her to support her and our family.  I had the honor to design a logo for one of the campaigns that we ran to raise money for her treatment.  When she began her fight against cancer her parents chose a bee to symbolize her journey along with the quote “fight like a butterfly, sting like a bee”.  Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” was a verse they chose to encourage trusting in God through every trial life brings you.
