WARRIOR MAGAZINE LAYOUT
I was challenged to create a multi spread magazine layout implementing specific guidelines and required elements such as using a byline, pull quotes, drop cap, and leads. I chose to focus my magazine on my niece who was fighting leukemia at the time. This gave me the opportunity to showcase one of the designs I did for a t-shirt campaign to raise money for her treatment. This was one of my very first layout projects and it really ignited my love for layout and typography.
pHOTOSHOP COMPOSITE MOVIE POSTER
I really enjoy watching scary movies and thrillers so when I was asked to create a movie poster for a classic children's book but with a twist, I chose to turn one of my favorite books into a horror movie. I composited seven images using photoshop to create an eerie and haunted appearance. I used this broken and dirty typeface to help tie in the idea of being in the woods.
I had the privilege of designing invitations for my niece's first birthday party. I was excited to illustrate the cute shark and bubbles to go along with the baby shark theme. I was asked to use pink as the primary color and blue as the secondary. I chose to vary the shades and tints to add depth and visual hierarchy.
BRIDAL SHOWER INVITATIONS
I was given the opportunity to design the invitations and thank you notes for my sister’s bridal shower. I was given a color palette and theme from the bridal party. I chose to use a floral pattern to help tie in the pink, purple, and navy color scheme they were looking for. I used navy for the text to provide good contrast and accented it with gold for interest. In addition to the contrasting colors, I used two contrasting typefaces, one being a scripted font and the other a very clean and simple san-serif.
cost effective brochure
I was challenged to create a cost-effective brochure using only one color and two-typefaces for any subject of my choice. Gymnastics has been a part of my life since before I can remember and it, unfortunately, is often overlooked as a highly competitive and demanding sport. I chose to create an informative brochure about the history and benefits of gymnastics. I matched a soft handwritten typeface with a bold san-serif to illustrate the grace and grit needed to be a competitive gymnast.
